Green Tea Extract and Caffeine in Supplements Explained
Stallion Power prints 5 mg of caffeine, listed after green tea extract in its blend. FDA cites 400 mg a day as generally not linked to harm for most healthy adults (FDA, Caffeine). The sources we read do not say how much extra caffeine the green tea extract adds, so the label's 5 mg may not be the full total.

What does the label say about caffeine and green tea?
The Stallion Power label prints "Caffeine (5 mg)" in fifth place of an 82 mg proprietary blend. Green Tea Extract sits in fourth place and has no printed amount.
Blend lines run in descending order by weight (21 CFR 101.36, Supplement Facts). That puts green tea extract at no more than 20.5 mg per gummy, or 19.25 mg once the printed caffeine is used to tighten the math. It is arithmetic on a label, not a lab result, and a real gummy can hold less.
Green tea contains caffeine on its own (NCCIH, Green tea). Whether this extract adds some, and how much, is not stated on the label and not in the sources we read. We will not guess. If you are caffeine-sensitive, treat 5 mg as the printed amount, not as a guaranteed total.
How big is 5 mg?
| Item | Caffeine |
|---|---|
| Stallion Power, one gummy (printed) | 5 mg |
| Green tea, 12 oz drink | About 37 mg (FDA, Caffeine) |
| Daily amount not generally linked to harm in most healthy adults | 400 mg (FDA, Caffeine) |
So the printed 5 mg is about one seventh of the caffeine in a 12 oz green tea. FDA also lists what too much caffeine can cause: faster heart rate, palpitations, high blood pressure, insomnia, anxiety, jitters, upset stomach and headache (FDA, Caffeine).
These limits apply to total caffeine from coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks and supplements together. FDA's 400 mg is a guide for most healthy adults and does not say 5 mg is risk-free for every person (FDA, Caffeine).
Why is green tea extract different from the drink?
NCCIH reports no safety concerns for green tea as a beverage in adults. Extract supplements are another matter. They can cause nausea, constipation, abdominal discomfort and higher blood pressure. Liver injury is uncommon but has been reported, mainly with extracts in tablet or capsule form (NCCIH, Green tea).
NIH LiverTox links green tea extract to clinically apparent liver injury, including acute liver failure, with onset usually 1 to 6 months after starting. The reported cases took about 800 mg to 1.86 g of extract a day, and one case product also held 160 mg of caffeine per capsule (NIH LiverTox, Green tea extract).
The label's whole blend is 82 mg, and the extract line is at most 20.5 mg. That is far below the amounts in those cases, and the sources do not say injury happens at such small amounts. They do not rule out individual sensitivity either.

See packsWho should be careful?
- Pregnant, trying to conceive or nursing: caffeine passes into breast milk, so ask your provider about limits (NCCIH, Green tea) (FDA, Caffeine).
- Anxiety, palpitations or trouble sleeping: count all caffeine you take in a day.
- Medicines: high doses of green tea can lower blood levels of nadolol, and the extract can lower atorvastatin levels (NCCIH, Green tea).
- Liver problems: ask your doctor before any green tea extract product.
Keep taking prescribed medicine. Stop and talk to your doctor if you notice yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, or severe stomach pain.
A sensible next step
Add up your daily caffeine before you start any supplement with it. For the rest of the label, read the ingredients overview and the side effects guide.
